-Cover an event, person, or story suited for video (i.e., action/emotion/opinion)
-Use headline and a paragraph of text for background and context; use the video for visuals
-Minimum length 2. Maximum length 4 minutes.
-Posted to YouTube or Vimeo and then embedded on your blog (make sure your settings are not set to private)
-No webcam interviews (i.e., sitting and talking to your computer). Get out and shoot something.
-Create the best quality video you can. But the primary grading criteria will be the question: “Is this worth watching and sharing with others?”
Criteria and Point Values:
-Headline, intro text, tags. Is it descriptive? Does it provide context and compel reader to click and watch? (5 POINTS)
-Content is well suited for video—i.e. action, opinion, emotion, or something audience wants to see and hear. Is it worth watching and sharing with others? (40 POINTS)
-Shooting technique—Attention to framing, focus, steady, variety of shots, etc. (15 POINTS)
-Editing and/or presentation (15 POINTS)
-Appropriate length for subject (Min 2 min., Max 4 min.) (5 POINTS)
